Town Again Set to Be Unchanged for Trip to Cardiff Fri 14th Oct 2011 14:10
Town are expected to field the same starting XI for the fifth successive match for the first time since 1998 when they visit Cardiff on Saturday. Blues boss Paul Jewell will be looking for his side to win their fourth consecutive game on Bluebirds territory and record their sixth victory on the trot over the Welsh side at all venues.

Ronan Murray grabbed a late winner for a Town reserves side as they beat Bury Town 3-2 in the now annual pre-season friendly at Ram Meadow. The home side had gone ahead via skipper Tom Bullard before Jide Maduako and Caolan Lavery saw the Blues into the lead at half-time. After Bury had missed a penalty, Danny Cunningham brought them level with a superb freekick prior to Murray’s late deft flick over the keeper.

A very young and inexperienced Town reserve side beat Haverhill Rovers 2-1 at the New Croft on Wednesday evening. With U18s coach Russell Osman in charge following Chris Kiwomya’s departure at the end of last season, two first half goals from Caolan Lavery put Town in charge before Joe Harvey pulled one back for the hosts just prior to the break.

Chief executive Simon Clegg has confirmed that the cash from the sale of striker Connor Wickham will be reinvested into Paul Jewell’s squad. The Blues chief also confirmed that as revealed by TWTD earlier this afternoon, the club negotiated a sell-on clause in addition to the initial £8.1 million fee and the other add-ons which could potentially take the deal beyond £12 million.
